2. What Data We Collect

We collect the following categories of personal information:

• Account information: Your name, email address, and role (nutritionist or client).
• Profile & biometric data: Height, weight, age, gender, activity level, fitness goals, and health conditions — provided voluntarily by you to calculate nutritional targets.
• Food & nutrition logs: Foods, meals, and recipes you log within the app.
• Client data (nutritionists): Information you enter about your clients, including contact details, health notes, appointments, and meal plans.
• Payment information: Billing details processed securely via PayFast or Stripe. We do not store card numbers directly.
• Usage data: How you interact with the app, pages visited, and features used — used to improve the platform.
• Device information: Browser type, operating system, and IP address for security and analytics purposes.

3. How We Use Your Data

• To provide, maintain, and improve the Juicy platform.
• To calculate personalised nutritional targets and Juicy Points.
• To facilitate the sharing of nutrition logs between clients and their nutritionists.
• To send transactional emails such as invoices, appointment reminders, and trial notifications.
• To process subscription payments and manage billing.
• To comply with legal obligations, including POPIA.

4. Legal Basis for Processing

We process your personal information on the following grounds:

• Contract: Processing is necessary to provide the services you signed up for.
• Consent: Where you have explicitly consented, such as when sharing logs with your nutritionist.
• Legitimate interest: To improve our platform, prevent fraud, and send relevant service communications.
• Legal obligation: Where required by South African law, including POPIA.

5. Sharing Your Data

We do not sell your personal data. We may share it with:

• Your nutritionist: If you share your food logs, your nutritionist can view your nutrition data.
• Service providers: We use trusted third-party providers (Base44, Resend, PayFast, Stripe) solely to operate the platform. They are contractually bound to protect your data.
• Legal authorities: If required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. You can request deletion at any time. Nutritionists can configure their own data retention settings (90 days to 5 years) for client records. When an account is deleted, all associated data is permanently removed within 30 days.

7. Your Rights Under POPIA

Under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), you have the right to:

• Know what personal information we hold about you.
• Request access to your personal information.
• Request correction of inaccurate information.
• Request deletion of your personal information.
• Object to the processing of your personal information.
• Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa at inforegulator.org.za.

8. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted data storage, secure HTTPS connections, and access controls. However, no system is 100% secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children's Privacy

Juicy is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or in-app notice. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
